An excellent choice for check valve at the pump and standby pump outlet. Yes it is more expensive, but I have had cheaper check valves on my backup pump fail allowing water pumped by the main pump to just recycle in the pit instead of being pumped out - weird but it happened BTW there is head pressure in the discharge line all the time even when the pump is not on that puts pressure on the check valve flapper and in this case failure. Now you know what the cost of that failure is - flooding. In this instance I could hear and feel both pumps working individually but no water was being pumped out the discharge line but I could see a flow of water within the pit but no drop in level.. Initially misdiagnosed as a pump impeller failure with motor turning.
After dismantling the system I could see the cheaper flapper valve was pushed through its base to never more be useful as a check valve. DONT BUY CHEAP because you know all failures occur during a storm and it is nighttime. While you are at it, have a back up primary pump already built up and ready to just drop into the pit, connect and start pumping. Do you have an alarm preferably a monitored or at least a wifi type that will notify you?
Remember that WiFi likely will not work with power outages -my system is independent of house current or house wifi status. I was alerted when the water just crested the top of the pit and had my on hand built up (standby) replacement in within 20 minutes. Good Check valves likely would have prevented this from happening in the first place. BTY even the best check valves fail eventually so have some of these on hand and maybe even change them out before they fail in the middle of the night. Just think worst case - how would I handle this in the middle of the night during a storm?

Best Check Valve For Sump Pump Installations

Having the discharge check valve located directly at the pump discharge port is the most efficient placement for the sump pump check valve. These check valves are high quality and will give long life cycle with minimal closure noise.
I would like to see Sump Pumps Direct offer the sister Zoeller check valve that is a glue-in versus a thread-in design that is perfect for sumps that have a battery operated tertiary back-up pump.
