Needs Pressure Tank, No Fill Valve, Electrical
By Jason A
Florida
Review Posted 06/09/2023

The electrical area is far too small, very hard to wire up. Not enough space to bend wires, wire connection is spades. Needs a fill valve and others I looked at included pressure tank. Seems well built is the best part. Like a tank for 1970s. Hoping it lasts 10 years.

I did not drain the pump and was on trip away from home. The temp dropped and now the pump cast iron housing is cracked. Can I buy just the housing? Can't seem to find it anywhere.

Great Product

Review Posted 05/01/2019
I have owned this product for about 7 years and use it to water my lawn with water from a small river in my yard. It continues to run very well. I would like to know how to keep the rust down in the reservoir during the winter. I do drain the reservoir each year but rust seems to build up during the winter over the past 7 years. Would it be ok to pour CLR into the reservoir and let it sit for a few hours before I flush it out.

CLR would not help if you added it to the reservoir. The rust will continue until the pump eventually fails.

Bad Impeller
By Harold K.
Valdosta, Georgia
Review Posted 02/28/2018
Pump is only used occasionally when really dry weather happens. Pump stopped working. Brittle black plastic impeller separated from hub. Not reinforced in any way. Poor quality part with very short lifetime, in my opinion. Kit to repair(with shipping) nearly half of new price. No reason to believe the repair item is any better quality.

Expert Response
Typically impeller damage occurs because of solids present in the water being pumped. I would suggest using a filter on the inlet side of your pump to extend the impeller life.

Manufacturer Response
Thank you for reaching out. I would echo the above thoughts and use a filter with the pump, to strain out solids that may potentially damage the impeller.

I had a master electrician look at the wiring diagram. Even he was not sure of the proper wiring without checking the conductivity with a voltage meter.

Wayne WLS 150 Pump Has Bad Impellers
By Roger C.
Greybull, Wyoming
Review Posted 07/16/2017
I have bought 5 Wayne pumps in last 2 years. Only 1 is still working 3 of them broke the impellers even though I filter the water ahead of the pump. New impellers are $88.00. The last 1 had electrical problems and 1 is still working. Do not buy wayne wls pumps.

Thank you for the feedback. You might consider upgrading to a pump that has metal impellers.

Jim O.
Water Pump Expert
Manufacturer Response
Thanks for the feedback. While WAYNE pumps do not have metal or brass impellers, they are reinforced and ultra durable. I am sorry that you've experienced issues with the impellers on our WLS series pumps. Please reach out to us directly at ReviewMgr@waynewatersystems.com, so we can discuss replacement options.
