Simer 2330-03 Reviews & Ratings
The Smart Geyser is just that-smart. This pump is like any other utility pump, except most other utility pumps run continuously. That means you have to stand around and watch the pump until the water has been pumped dry.
The Smart Geyser will turn on and off automatically every 2 1/2 minutes. This pump comes with thermoplastic construction for impact and corrosion resistance. It also has thermal overload protection so you don't have to worry about walking away from the pump while it's plugged in.
With the bottom suction design, it filters and removes water all the way down to 1/4" of the surface.
This pump earns our better rating because of its smart features.

2330 Pump. Poor Water Sensing
By Ivan L.

Review Posted 10/08/2016
Bought this pump because of the internal auto detect feature and because it would drain water to within 1/4" of the bottom. I have a 14" round sump hole two feet deep. I have a back flow valve and a 1" pvc discharge hose. The pump started and stopped 6 times to drain that hole and then does its auto detect every few minutes. So all summer even if there is no water in the hole the pump still starts, checks and stops every few minutes. Probably the worst pump I have ever bought and will go back to the external float system. I think this would be a great pump if Simer could install a internal float triggered by a rise in water level and toss the electronics. Plus I live in Canada and there is no choice of Canada to put in this review so I picked Alaska

I'd suggest using a sump pump for an application like you described. While this pump may work in an application like yours, there are better options.

Ivan the pump is working as designed. I suggest you purchase a sump pump instead of this utility pump

Pump Does Not Run With Garden Hose

My pump runs fine until I attach a herder hose then it shuts off and goes thru the water detection cycle. I reported this to the tech assistance at simmer and they to old me to install a one inch tee a attach two hoses. They say that restricted flow make it think it has no water, what a joke....not a very smart pump. Maybe this should all be laid out in the operating instructions and they should keep the one inch by hose adapter if it creates to much restriction. Besides that great pump.

For small pumps like these, try using the shortest length of hose possible. It will prevent air-lock and maximize your discharge rate.

Can not rely on this product.

My house is built into a hill and the driveway wraps around with the garage underneath the house (basement level). When there is spring snow cover (I live in New Hampshire) and then a good steady rain (or even a warm day with a lot of melting), water will puddle in the corner of the driveway and then build up enough to get 2-3 inches of water in my garage and basement. I bought this Simer 2330 thinking that if I could put it out in the AM when I left for work when I knew it would rain, everything should be perfect.
After a few near misses, I learned that I can not trust this pump. First, it needs a massive amount of power and has to be on its own circuit. OK - generally easy enough. Second, you need to have a check valve installed. Directions say you might want to install one if you have problems - you will need one. But that has only half helped the situation. Because the third problem, is the airlock. It constantly seems to get plugged up after about an hour. You have to go out and take a paper clip and clean it out. Not really something you can do when you are at work all day.
When it pumps, it is great. But I cannot trust it to work. If there is anyone out there that can tell me how to fix this it would be great. Unfortunately my 30 day return period is over and stuck with a flawed product.

I bought this item not once, but twice. I had an old Simer one-sixth HP pump for years, but it finally called it quits. I figured I would upgrade to an automatic pump for my basement, so I wouldn't have to stay up all night to turn it off when it is done.
So, I plug it, rest it in my basement filled with 6 inches of water, and away it goes, pumping out a steady stream of water...for five seconds, then shuts down for 2.5 minutes, then away it goes...for five seconds, then shuts down for 2.5 minutes, then...
You get the idea. It is not so smart if the pump is actually pumping water and doesn't even know it. Sure it appears to be doing what it is supposed to do: checking to see if there is water present. If not, shut down. Do this every 2.5 minutes.
The problem is that it never knows when it finds water, and never sustains its pumping. So, it pumps water at a rate of 4 gallons per hour at most.
You can verify my experience through other reviews elsewhere on the internet. This behaved the same way on two pumps straight from the box! Also, this same pump is also sold under the brand name "Flotec". Don't buy that one either!

Most likely the reason you're only getting 4 GPH is because the pump is losing it's prime. Due to the design of the pump, air getting trapped in the discharge line will cause the pump to not operate correctly.

Answered by Jim, the Water Pump Expert
Does the Simer 2330 Automatic Submersible Utility Pump function only when there is water present? Am I correct in assuming that I need only to connect a hose to it and plug it into an electrical outlet, no timers, etc?
