Great Little Mercury Float Switch
By Phillip F

Review Posted 08/02/2022
Easy to install...took awhile for me to adjust the 'on' and 'off' positions. Other than that, tested the whole assembly outside in 33 gallon garbage can before installing. Worked like a charm.

Rebuilding A Failed Residential Sewage Lift Station
By Phillip F
Michigan
Review Posted 07/21/2022
The sewage lift station in my residence failed without any warning (whoever previously installed the system) for some reason threw away the tether switch for the over-fill alarm, so then the pump or switch failed, I had no warning. Not knowing anything about the 'system', I really wasn't sure which piece of equipment failed (pump, switch, ?) so I decided to replace everything. I put together a list of the equipment I would need (pump, alarm, switches, etc.) and started looking at the 'ratings' for the products made by various manufacturers. I finalized the list of products I would need and then started searching for a vendor(s) that had the specific products I needed. Because of 'supply chain' issues and 'availability', I ended up purchasing the items I needed from 3 different sources. I wanted to use this particular Junior Super Single switch to control my new Zoeller pump because of the ratings I found for it. After receiving all the equipment I needed, I started rebuilding the lift station (pump, switches, over-fill alarm, discharge pipe, etc.) outside using a 33-gallon garbage can to simulate the 'crock' buried in the basement floor. The longest part of the whole process (other than the initial 'clean-up' I faced after the failure) was adjusting the mounting height (on the 2" discharge pipe from the pump) and the 'tether length' for this switch (which controls the pump) and the other tether switch that activates the over-fill alarm. Lots of 'trial and error' to get this switch 'set' so that it would turn 'on' when the liquid level reached approximately 17 1/2" above the bottom of the 'crock' and that it would turn 'off' when the liquid level dropped to approximately 12" from the bottom of the crock. Once I got everything positioned and adjusted so that the pump would operate within these limits, I then installed and started adjusting the height and tether length for the switch that operates (turns 'on' and 'off') the over-fill alarm ('on' when the liquid inside the crock reached 21" and 'off' when it dropped approximately 5-6"). Once I got both switches to operate correctly in the garbage can filled with water, I moved them down to the crock in the basement and repeated the testing (to make sure that both operated correctly, that they would not 'bind' in any way, and that they were positioned on the discharge pipe 'opposite' the main sewage line that enters through the side of the crock. Totally pleased with how this switch functioned...
