My Third One. Great Idea, But Reliability Is A Question
By Dennis T.
Paola, Kansas

Review Posted 06/18/2019
Pretty nice idea! This is my third one. The first one worked very good, but after 3 or 4 years just quit. The second one wasn't as reliable at turning off the pump when it had pumped out the water. It would let the pump just run occasionally, until the pump would overheat, and quit. But it was fairly reliable. Dropped it about 2 foot on a concrete floor, and stopped working. The one I just got does the same thing. Won't shut off the pump when it should.

It has already burned up one pump but don't know if it is the controller, or the conditions. It is sitting on a floor drain in the basement that does have water come up through it. I am going to try something to help it sense when the water is gone. Will see if that works. This thing would be great if it shut off the pump when it is supposed to. These are 1/6 th horsepower utility pumps. Seems like these are a little fragile to me. Could have a better case to assure durability it seems. A sticker on the case detailing the meaning of the beeps would help. Can't find an alternate to this brand, so it is only option I think!!

Based on the description of the issues you're experiencing, it most likely would be an application issue. Here you can find the Owner's Manual.

It Works

We installed this sensor in a telecommunications cable vault underground. Unfortunately, all the electrical conduits were plastic and we had to run an additional ground cable to under the pump so the switch would activate. Read the instructions and test your install!

Works Exactly As Descibed
By Lynell T.

I live in a house built in 1862 with a basement hand dug beneath the kitchen in the 1940s to accommodate a furnace, water heater and fuel-oil tank. It has a concrete floor but dirt walls which are open to the crawlspace beneath the rest of the house. I never had any water in the basement until three years ago, in 2015, when weather patterns noticeably shifted to more intense rainfalls. After more than 1.5 inches of rain has fallen in one downpour, water begins seeping into the basement through the dirt walls. In 2018 I used a concrete saw to chisel a narrow channel across the floor from where the water seeps in to a corner where the floor is still dirt. I dug a sump pit in that corner, lined it with a plastic 3-gallon bucket and stuck a pump down inside with this switch installed to activate it. I piped the water up to my rain barrels outdoors. The switch works like a charm. Great investment.

Hc7000 Resolved A Big Problem For Me
By Morris I.
staten Island, New York
Purchased 10/10/2018 |
Review Posted 11/01/2018
My pump is automatic so it works off the float unfortunately the pit isn’t deep enough so float goes on almost before the waiter overflows from pit. This was too risky for me so I got the hc7000 set it lower on pump and connected float to stay in open position So the pump is totally reliant on the hc7000 which goes on with half as much water in the pit. Great find sure beats making the pit deeper!

So Glad I Found This!

I'm so glad I found this sensor. My utility pump doesn't have an auto on/off, which isn't very helpful when you get a gully washer in the middle of the night and water gets in your garage. This works perfectly. I'm very satisfied.

I Have Been Looking For This Device For Years! It works!
By Gregory M.

Review Posted 02/14/2018
On our Shotgun Trap range, our trap house is subterranean and suffers a lot of water drainage since the installed drains failed. Most surface type sump pumps do not have a float switch. This device, since I attached it to our 1200 GPH sump pump has kept water on the floor down to 3/4 of an inch and the new drains can keep up with the remaining flow. It is a simple, easy to install and intelligent sensor that works very well with the pump I am using.

Rather than purchase a much larger system that requires digging a hole thru the cement floor, this sensor allowed us to use our regular pump which does not have an off/on switch. We always had to have a person standby as it pumped and there were times it took 4 hours to drain the water. This sensor takes the worry about burning out our motor in the pump and it also stops the water from reaches depths of four feet near our machinery. Fantastic device for a great price. Thank you for bringing this solution to us.

The Cat's Pajamas Pump Switch
By William O.
Jackson, California
Purchased 10/21/2017 |
Review Posted 11/20/2017
After installing the sump pump, I set the probe in an inverted position so that the tip was just below the sump pump basin overflow level. I then poured in 13 gallons of water that filled the basin and the connecting perforated piping within the gravel bed. When the water hit the tip of the probe the little Giant pump turned on automatically, and true to to the discharge rate it took a little over one minute to empty all the water. Then the pump shut itself off.

This is the first time since that 1865 root cellar was built that it will never flood again, and I will no longer need to get on my hands and knees to mop up the 80 or so gallons that used to flood the root cellar and connecting basement.
Many thanks for your expertise
