I purchased this to replace the same make and size that was 15 years old. Ants made a nest inside the motor over winter and I was able to replace it with a new pump and motor for not much more than the cost to repair the motor.

Big Disappointment

I bought this pump to run my sprinkler system that's pulled from a backyard canal. I have a 1/4 acre lot with 4 sprinkler zones. This pump should be able to handle that with ease. Well it struggles every time it runs and has from day 1. First of all this pump gets extremely hot when it runs. 190 degrees to be exact. No pump should run that hot. Secondly it's very loud. I built a plywood box for it with a top and I can still hear it from about 100 feet away. Lastly it just can't seem to be able to pull enough water to run all my sprinklers. The heads closest to my pump run at 50% and the heads furthest won't even pop out of the ground.
This pump is not good. There's no way it's 80 GPM as advertised. More like 40 GPM. I wish I wouldn't have bought it.

Expert Response
Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with this pump. However it is very rare that there are issues with these top of the line Franklin Electric pumps. Based on what you described, you may not have the pump wired correctly or you many not be supplying 240V power to this pump. We always suggest having pumps like these installed by a licensed electrician. If you're still having issues, I'd suggest contacting Franklin Electric directly @ (800) 348-2420 for troubleshooting.
