Manufacturer Review
Complete and Convenient Setup
By Greg P.
Champion Champion Power Equipment Category Manager (Water Pumps)
Review Posted 11/26/2018
“Started first pull, primed and started pumping fast.” These are just some of the reviews we’ve received from customers about this pump. We understand that when you need to move water, you don’t have time to mess around, so we included everything you need in the complete hose kit - even down to the teflon tape! The maximum delivery volume is 158 gallons per minute and this unit is capable of passing solid waste up to 9/16 inch in diameter.

Gets The Job Done

I am temporarily living in an RV while remodeling my house. The closest I could get the RV to the septic tank was 250" and uphill. I bought this pump and 300' of 2" hose and removed the pump the RV place sold me. What was taking me over 8 hours to fully empty tanks is now complete in less than an hour and they are truly empty for the first time.

Water Pump With 1.5 Inch Adapter For 100' Fire Hose
By Doug V.
Montana
Purchased 05/09/2021 |
Review Posted 06/01/2021
I purchased the water pump because I live in a rural area that has the potential for wild fires. The pump comes with a 2 inch hose attachment. To use 100 feet of hose I recommend using a 2in to 1.5 in adapter and 1.5 inch fire hose as the hose gets heavy when filled with water. The pump works great and I can use my nozzle to squirt about 60 to 70 feet of water, enough to reach the top of my home. The pump runs great pumps out of a river or other water source such as a pond.

Excellent Pump For Homeowner Or Ranch

Instructions were easy to understand. It was very easy to assemble (hoses, oil, gas, etc.). Started on the second (easy) pull the first time, then on the first pull afterwards. Got it new recently, so I don't know the long-term quality, but it looks like it will last.

Working Through Some Issues
By James O.

Review Posted 04/03/2020
Working through some issues with the suction side of the pump. I am setting this up as a pump to run sprinklers in my yard, pumping from a pond on the property. Having read other reviews advising close attention to sealing the suction side, I decided to forgo the teflon tape and use Rector Seal instead because I know from experience in industry, this is a superior pipe sealing product.
I primed the pump and started it up and had trouble with the draw right away. I believe the issue was with the cam lock fitting supplied with the kit so I took step to better seal it. I finally got the pump to draw and it seems to pump with good pressure until I back off the flow, at which time it seems to cavitate making me think the suction end is still not good. Going to Lowes tomorrow to see what I can find to solve this issue and with all that I have high Hope's this pump will do what I need.
With that, the engine runs really well and hopefully I can sort out the other issues and give a better review later!

Please understand this type of pump is not a high pressure pump. You may run into some issues when running sprinklers because the pump doesn't product enough pressure. When you back off the flow on this pump, you also decrease the pressure on the output while increasing the back-pressure.

Very Good Product So Far

I am using this at home to pump rainwater out of trenches dug for water hydrant installation so I can compete the tasks. It just keep raining around here. The engine starts first time every pull, cold or hot, as long as I do my part with the choke.
The handle assembly is not a good design as the installed angle on mine is not very useful for transporting, plus it vibrated itself off the first time used. I reinstalled 180 degrees from designed and installed a sheet metal screw to better secure it. Now it functions well.
Priming the pump is the only real detractor on my unit. On a previous Honda pump all I had to do was fill the pump cavity with dirty water from the trenches, start the engine and run at near full throttle for 20 seconds and water would pump well. On this Champion I have to use a water hose to fill the pump housing and then some, and run the engine at near full throttle for several minutes before water starts flowing.
Overall, I like this water pump a lot and it is a good value so far.

After a frustrating few hours getting the pump primed it is up and running like a champ (pun intended). The instructions do not stress enough the need for lots of teflon tape and super tight connections on the intake hose. We've used it for about 8 hours total so far. It's past the break-in period and performing well. Hopefully that will continue.

Hi Jim Is it okay to have the input 2 inch in and reduce the output to a 1 1/2? that would probably increase the PSI a little bit more too, right? or do I have to match both input and output with the same size hose? Thank you.
