Second Pump Like This I Have Had

Second pump I have had like this, worked well for 30 days then it leaked on the inlet connection behind the inlet nut before the union. This is the second one that has done this, the first worked for a couple years before it leaked.

Not The Goulds I Wanted, But Not Terrible

Despite the best efforts, and I really mean this, of Debbie and Bobbie at Water Pumps Direct, I wasn't able to buy the Goulds combination Tank/pump unit I wanted. Blame the supply chain for that. The Burcam unit is very light and was easy to place and move around to spot my supply and discharge lines. Priming was not so easy, and let me promise you that I have a lot of experience with pumps. The first problem was a leak from the tank drain plug. I tried to tighten it and that worked, sort of. If I tightened just a bit too much, it began leaking again. I pulled it out and was amazed that it was plastic...no wonder! I applied teflon tape and reinserted it, tightening very carefully. A brass plug would be ideal and I may eventually go to that.
My next try at priming showed a leak from the plastic coupling collar. Easy, I thought, and grabbed the included spanner. This "tool" is a joke and is best placed in Barbie's Fun Tool Box. So I grabbed a 1" chisel and hammer to convince the collar to tighten. This worked. This solved the priming problem. Next on the agenda was adjusting the shut-off/shut-on pressure. It was supposedly factory preset to 30-50. but was more like 25-40.
So, this whole process was a drag and would never happen with a Goulds pump. On the positive side, this pump appears to be a real 3/4 hp. Pressure is great. Let's just hope the bugs have all been worked out. Another plus is that this pump is just about 1/2 the price of a Goulds unit and their phone support staff is good.
only option was to buy this Burcam
