Does Exactly What The Specs Say
By Dan L.

Review Posted 09/28/2024
I needed a high pressure pump for a portable fire trailer / irrigation trailer. I have an 1,100 gallon tank and a bunch of coast redwood groves that need water during the summer (regrowing after a forest fire). Mounting this tank on a wood skid and using the BE HP-2065HR to pump water out of the tank and out a 2" fire hose works brilliantly. I can empty the tank in under 10 minutes, and the pump generates plenty of pressure (as much as I can deal with standing up and holding the hose nozzle). Getting at least 150' of distance, maybe more. Very impressed with these Honda engines, and with the design of this pump. Very well built.

I dropped the suction hose in my creek to push water 800' and 60' vertical lift. Fingers crossed....it worked!! full stream thru 2" PVC Pipe. Its filling my farm pond. My best guess is about 50GPM. This thing is a brute

Challenging Application
By Larry F

Review Posted 07/25/2022
Had a challenging application with pumping uphill 100 feet and 600 feet away. I installed pipe in ground without regard for what pump specification would work. Pumps Direct helped me calculate the "head" and suggested the pump to use. Very surprised how well the pump works. Started effortlessly.

Very Dissatisfied, Not Powerful Enough For My Needs
By Scott W.
Sandy Ridge, North Carolina

Review Posted 09/06/2021
I'm a market gardener and have expanded my garden to the point where I needed an irrigation system. I spent about $5,000 to do this. As far as the water pump aspect of the system goes, I'm very unsatisfied. I went over the horizontal and vertical calculations with the "experts" at waterpumpsdirect.com, and the pump isn't working up to the expectations I was told it would work. I'm pumping water into a 3000 gallon tank which is 650 feet away and 85 feet up. I was told it should fill up in about 35 to 40 minutes with the BE#: HP-2065HR, but it is taking over 2 hours and a full tank of gas. I contacted water pumps direct and they told me they don't handle the warranty on the pump. A mechanic friend of mine who has worked on water pumps looked at my pump, opened it up, checked the suction pressure, etc. and found nothing wrong with it. Since there is nothing wrong with the pump, I'm stuck with a pump that isn't performing up to the expectations I was told it would do.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing Scott. Can you please tell me who you spoke to regarding the sizing for this pump and application as well as what diameter hose/pipe you are using for that 650 foot run on the discharge side of the pump? If you prefer, you may call me at 800-710-7499, Ext 125.

A Great Water Pump
By Lorrac C.
Trinity Center, California
Purchased 06/07/2021 |
Review Posted 08/09/2021
This pump was purchased to fill a 3000 gallon tank at about 125 feet above the water source. It takes 1 tank of fuel to fill the water tank. Priming the pump was a point of contention until I put a faucet in the line above the pump to relieve back pressure. Without relieving back pressure, the pump took several minutes to prime and begin to pump. The pump was filled with water prior to starting. The pump's other purpose is for firefighting. Fortunately, haven't had to use it that way yet.

This unit primed on the first attempt and performed like a champ. It replaced my GX120, now a quieter engine and increased water pressure and flow.

Powerful - Maybe Too Much So
By Robert H.

Review Posted 05/19/2021
Brief trial run went smoothly. Pump starts easily and works great. My only issue is my ability to handle it. The 2” outlet with a 2” hose results in a hose that is very heavy to move when full. Might be a two person job to operate - one at the pump and one manning the hose - Turn off the pump Unand close the hydrant when the hose needs to be moved.
I hook the pump up to a gravity-fed hydrant. I wonder if I can lower the pressure by only opening the hydrant part-way? I suspect that would not be good on the pump? I also assume that leaving the pump on for a minute or two and turning off the hydrant while moving the hose would be bad on the pump? I’d appreciate any suggestions.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with a gravity-fed hydrant and can't advise on how the pump should be used in this type of application. Please note, you should never run the pump dry because it will cause damage.

I have this pump hooked to 300’ of 2” lay flat hose with a 1 1/2” mini gun at the end. I use it to water my arena that is 250’X150’. This combo covers right at a 175’ circumference.

This Pump Rips !!!
By Jason T.

Review Posted 07/18/2020
This pump is unbelievable. I'm watering my asparagus field from over 650 feet away. At this distance and with a slight rise in elevation this pump will still blast water out the end of the 2in hose by 8 feet. I put a commercial sprinkler head on the end and can reach out over 75 feet. Very impressed with the pump. Started first pull. Highly recommended...

How long can 1 full gas tank last for the BE-HP2065HR?
Man H.
from California

Hi Jim Is it okay to have the input 2 inch in and reduce the output to a 1 1/2? that would probably increase the PSI a little bit more too, right? or do I have to match both input and output with the same size hose? Thank you.
